As a fan of Tony Scott films I was excited to see him team up with Denzel Washington again. I really enjoyed Crimson Tide, and the remake of Man on Fire. So this was definetly going to be unimissable viewing in my eyes.

Gun for hire Creasy’s latest job has him babysit the child of a wealthy family. All is well until his charge is kidnapped and he gets shot. As soon as he recovers, he goes apeshit and  blows things up to save her.

What a great plot for the 80’s?

Don’t you mean the 00’s?

Nope, 2004’s Man on Fire starring Denzal Washington is in fact a remake of this version.

Well folks the wife is out and after a hearing a few ‘your mama’s so fat’ jokes the other day. I decided to kick back and watch one of my favourites and the source of many a fat women joke, 1991’s rather splendid ‘The Last Boyscout’ starring Bruce Willis.

Sorry for the lack of recent Nick Flicks, I recently got married and changed jobs so haven’t had as much spare time as I’d hoped. So now the hiatus is over I decided to get back in the saddle with 2006’s, US slasher film, All the boys love Mandy Lane.

Do they?

Yes they do, a lot.

Do I?

Wait and see.

Well as this is Nick Flicks the first Mickey Rourke film to be done is Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, sorry its not the frankly amazing Angel Heart, but in the cheesy stakes it don’t cut the mustard and no one in that film reminded anyone of what their old dad used to say.

Well if Psycho kept you out of the shower and Jaws kept you out of the water, Porky’s definitely kept you out of glory holes. Before American Pie’s teenagers tried to lose their virginity, Porky’s teenagers were trying to lose theirs.

Hang on said the cover. I did and it meant I pondered whether to buy the DVD or not. Luckily for Stallone’s royalties, I made the purchase. Joking aside I did actually catch this in the flicks. It had a fantastic trailer which is still one of my favourites. It just showcases the action and spectacular scenery with a classical music soundtrack. It’s on the DVD so let me know what you think.

Tremors (1990)

Well here it is. Tremors, the film everyone has seen at least twice. I would also wager it improved the popularity of ‘rock, paper, scissors‘ in settling important decisions in the playground and in the workplace. I know this to be true. In fact thanks to the old reliable rock I recently got out of showing a colleague how to use Outlook. Read more »
