Deja Vu (2006)
As a fan of Tony Scott films I was excited to see him team up with Denzel Washington again. I really enjoyed Crimson Tide, and the remake of Man on Fire. So this was definetly going to be unimissable viewing in my eyes.
Denzel plays ATF agent Doug Carlin whose latest case has him tracking down the bomber of a ferry in New Oreleans. He soon meets a FBI agent played by Val Kilmer, another cast member reunited with Scott (1986’s Top Gun), who invites him to join him on a speacial project.
I’m not going to get boring with the science but it soon turns into a time travel film. Basicly with the help of some nerds, including indie actor Adam Goldberg (best known as Joey’s weird flatmate in Friends), Denzel has the chance to look four days into the past to examine the crime scene and get some clues as to the bombers identity. He decides the main lead is a murdered girl found at the scene called Claire (Paula Patton). It soon turns out that the bomber used her truck in the explosion and murdered her to cover up the theft. After some more noseing around in the past with the aid of a funky tech filled van they soon find the identity of the bomber, Passion of the Christ actor Jim Caviezel. Now the hunt is on to find him and to try and prevent Claire’s murder.
So thats enough for you to get the plot without spoilling it. Deju Vu is fun viewing if you like either Denzel, Tony Scott films, or time travel films. It’s not going to last in your mind for ever but if you have a few hours and want to be entertained then check it out.
